Auto Claim | Home & Property Claim

Accidents can happen to anyone at any time. If you are ever involved in an accident, it is important to remember the following:

Print this list and keep in your glove compartment for reference in case of emergency.

1.
A Zenith Claim Representative or Field Adjuster will contact you to obtain full particulars of the loss.
2.
After verifying your policy coverage, you will be asked to take your vehicle to an appraiser for assessment of damages.
What if I want to use my own auto shop for repairs?
-
If you prefer to have your vehicle repaired at a shop of your choice, you may be asked to obtain two competitive estimates. If the first estimate is over $1,500, your adjuster will ask you to make an appointment with the repairer to have the vehicle appraised by our appraiser. Please give us 24 to 48 hours notice.
Can I get a rental car while my car's in the shop?
-
Your adjuster can advise you if you have coverage available for the cost of a replacement vehicle and can also provide you with the name of a reputable car rental agency.
-
If your claim is for theft of your vehicle, your adjuster will explain the settlement process and advise you regarding rental coverage.
3.
Your adjuster will investigate the claim circumstances, evaluate your loss and discuss settlement with you. Because claim settlement regulations differ by province, your adjuster will explain the local legislation governing the claim settlement. The length of time it takes to conclude a claim may also differ depending on the claim circumstances and severity.
Will I be compensated for the full amount of the repairs?
Compensation may vary in accordance with the degree of fault and the coverage applicable. Your recovered damages depend on several factors including:
-
whether you were completely at fault or partially at fault for the accident
-
whether you carry any optional insurance coverage for your vehicle
-
You are responsible for any repair costs that improve your vehicle beyond its pre-accident state.
-
Usually the insurance company makes payments to both you and the garage where the car is being repaired. So you should not have to pay for repairs in advance.
